all below lustrous
an Apamean sun hot
dew on fine statues
sublimating quick
Muses’ faces deep wellsprings
a hum a song ruptured sharp
Time limself dances
those ruins half-remembered
crumbling cornerstones
sand whirls in harsh winds
all that remains is eclipsed
a promise a curse rending
we buried our hearts
like Dionysos’ remains
as the temples burned
as we burned with them
they march now on Earth herself
still the fire roars unceasing
my blood rushes up
place unplaced within without
lacuna-filled strife
a world inverted
now how to turn back, to heal
hum envesseled bond restored
